Everyone has had a nightmare at some point in their life. At various times in our lives we have woken up during the night and remembered the dream we had. Dreams are more common than most people realize, which raises questions about what the Bible says about nightmares. Check it out below.

What the Bible says about nightmares
At some point in our lives, we have desperately woken up from a nightmare. Dreams are more common than we think, and have been the subject of philosophical debate among scientists for years.
Dreams are considered a "parallel universe", and science has been talking about it for decades. Medicine states that there are points related to dreams and nightmares, as well as the reasons why they happen and the quality of the night's sleep.
Science says that we dream every night, regardless of our age. According to the neurologist, most dreams happen at a specific moment during the night.
What most people have doubts about, especially Christians, is what the Bible says about nightmares. Dreams are mentioned in some passages of the Holy Bible, and God used the dream state to communicate with the disciples.
Although it is mentioned in the Bible, none of the disciples' dreams can be related to nightmares. In general terms, God does not communicate with people through nightmares, but through dreams.
Why we have nightmares
Some people believe that demons are responsible for nightmares, but the Holy Bible doesn't justify this. In other words, there is no biblical passage that suggests that demonic forces communicate with people through nightmares.
In general terms, nightmares are nothing more than the brain's way of fighting our fears and worries. After all, the brain continues to function, even in the middle of a night's sleep.
When a Christian experiences many nights of nightmares, which interrupt their dreaming, they should seek specialized help. In the meantime, as in all periods of our lives, pray to God.
Prayer is an extremely powerful weapon among people who have faith, whether it's emotional or spiritual stress. Before going to sleep, take fifteen minutes to pray and ask the Lord to bless your night's sleep.
According to the Holy Bible, in James 1:5: "God gives wisdom to people who seek help from him. The Lord also gives peace to those who are seeking it".
In Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything. In everything, whether you know it or not, make your petitions, prayers and supplications before God. May the peace of the Lord keep our hearts and minds."
God protects us from nightmares
Most people find it difficult to get a good night's sleep. After all, when we lay our heads on the pillow, it's common to remember all the problems and forget the blessings that happen in our lives.
These problems can generate fear in our lives, arousing affliction and in some situations generating nightmares. God tells us not to fear anything in our lives, because he will protect us, especially from nightmares.
Some biblical passages suggest that God is always watching over our night's sleep. Check them out below:
- Psalm 4:8: "In peace I will lie down, for in you, Lord, I will put all my safety";
- Psalm 91:5: "I will not fear the evil of the night, nor the plague that dwells in darkness."
- Proverbs 3:24: "When I lie down on my bed, I will fear no evil. When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet";
- Timothy 1:7: "The Lord has not given the spirit of timidity, but of power, love and moderation."
- John 4:4: "Son, you are from God Almighty, and that is why you have already won, because greater is he who dwells in you and not he who is in the world."
- John 4:18: "In love there is no room for fear. Rather, perfect love will cast out fear."
Remember: our biggest and best defense against nightmares is to pray against them. Prayer helps us to rid ourselves of all negative thoughts, as well as attracting God's love and companionship.
