The family, of different compositions, is very important to God. The family is a sacred institution created by God. When Adam was created, God realized that it was not good for man to live alone.

So God created Eve next, to be Adam's companion. In Genesis 1:28, Adam and Eve were told to have children and populate the earth.

Genesis 2:24 says that a man or woman who marries must leave their father and mother behind. In this sense, husband and wife become one.

After the creation of Adam and Eve's family, the Bible contains excerpts and stories of many families, even with different compositions, not just a couple with children.

How to build a family united in God

There are stories with widows and children, a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law family (Book of Ruth) and other situations where the family structure is not that of a couple with children.

So know that your family composition doesn't matter to God. You can build a family united in God with any family composition.

In Ephesians 2:19-21, God already shows that we are all part of one big family, being his children. It is clear that we are members of the whole family of God.

In other words, in addition to the traditional concept of family, for God there is a universal family, made up of all Christians. In this sense, you are part of a larger community, as a child of the Lord.

For God, it's important to care for and value the family, otherwise all the members will suffer. So learn 7 steps to build a family united in God.

1.  Study God's word as a family

The family needs time every day to read the Bible or study Christian teachings. In this way, you invite God and Jesus into your home. Children will learn Christian precepts from an early age, prepared to become good people. Take time out of your day to learn about the teachings of Jesus Christ as a family.

2.  Practice charity as a family

You and the other members of your family should serve others together. It can be any act of charity: volunteering at NGOs, offering food to the needy, helping a relative and other acts of solidarity. This will bring all the members of your family closer together, by doing an activity together, and it will bring them closer to God.

This is very beneficial, since we are all part of one family with one father, God.

3.  Express your love for your family

In John 15:12 we learn that the family must love each other as God loves us. So don't scold with acts of love and affection, even if they are small.

This strengthens the bonds between family members, creates a healthy coexistence and also sets a good example for the children.

4.  Pray as a family

God blesses those who pray together with more people. If these people are part of your family, the greater the blessing will be, with peace, love and harmony in your home. This will help to harmonize conflicts and create a healthy environment.

5.  Have family meals

You can't have a good family relationship if you don't live together. It's true that modern life is becoming more and more hectic, full of responsibilities and obligations, but you should have at least one meal a day as a family.

This will promote conviviality, strengthen the bonds of love and gratitude that God has provided meals at the table whenever necessary.

6.  Teach good values and set an example

As a parent or guardian of children or teenagers, you need to teach them Christian precepts. This includes all the teachings of Jesus Christ. Also, be a good example.

No child or adolescent does what they are told, but they learn when they see an example being set in practice. So be an exemplary father, mother or guardian to your children.

7.  Attend church as a family

Adopting the habit of attending church with your family will reinforce Christian family values and bring God closer to each member of your family. It can also give everyone a sense of community. This sense of community is important to underline the idea that all of God's children make up one family. We are all brothers and sisters.
